"Our company’s team attends at least a couple of TCCs every year, with nearly all of our employees participating as competitors or volunteers. The TCC community has become one of the most critical elements of our company culture. After every TCC they attend, the whole team comes back on ...fire, beaming with pride for their newfound knowledge, their awards and prizes, and in their improving abilities that enable them to have a positive influence on others in the industry." -Noel Boyer, CTSP, BCMA

TCIA’s Manager of Workforce Recruitment & Retention, Erin Demers, went to the National Collegiate Landscape Competition (NCLC) in Mississippi last week! She was very popular with the students and shared some valuable resources from OutsideCareers.org, including our Introduction to Arb Safety ...free course, developed by TCIA to give potential job seekers an idea of what a career path in the tree care industry is all about!

Some background on the NCLC: it is an annual three-day event that brings together top landscape and horticulture students, top industry companies, and dozens of the biggest industry manufacturers and suppliers. The National Association of Landscape Professionals hosts NCLC, and each year more than 800 students from two- and four-year colleges demonstrate their skills in real-world, competitive events and network with top companies in the industry.

TCIA also hosts its own Student Career Day each year at TCI EXPO! This November we'll be in St. Louis, MO! We're looking forward to seeing more than 300 arboriculture students take advantage of the free education and networking available this year! Contact Erin at erin.demers.tcia.org for more information.

What advice would you give to a student of arboriculture?

Thank you to @DaveyTree Expert for the photo!

In November 2018, 85 members of the Forest Ranch community and the town of Paradise, California lost their lives in the Camp Fire. Named after Camp Creek Road, its place of origin, the Camp Fire was the deadliest and most destructive wildfire in California’s history.

The fire severely ...impacted some of the P31 Enterprise Inc. crew members, some of whom lost homes, suffered injuries or lost loved ones to the inferno. For these affected communities, this was when the reality of wildfire impact really hit home.

Carlos Ramirez reflects on the experience as the community came together to show their appreciation for one another.
